Fairytale weddings are every girls dream. This bride wanted a castle wedding cake to go with her theme that took place at The Castle in Angier, NC Barclay Villa. The Castle wedding cake had pearl and gold colors with the family crest design on it as well as many crystals for added sparkle. Meghan from Sweet SaraBell was the wedding consultant for Zane and Jennifer Narro that day. Fresh Affairs Florist provided the flowers and Rocky Top Catering from Raleigh, NC was the caterer.

Megan and Phillip had their wedding at the Hudson Manor in Louisburg, NC. Their wedding cake had three tiers, with ruffles on the top and bottom tier with a quilted pattern on the middle tier. We then placed their gold colored monogram in front of the middle tier. I really enjoy doing the ruffle wedding cakes.

How to Decorate a Cake Naked
Naked Wedding Cake
How to decorate a cake naked is really decorating a naked cake, meaning no icing on the outside. I am finding that a lot of brides are wanting a more natural chic, country feel theme for their wedding cakes and this includes a naked cake. I do not want any dry cakes so, I had to figure out a way to keep this naked wedding cake moist and delicious.
After I baked the naked cake I had to slice and torte the naked cake. I then made a simple syrup and washed all of the naked cake layers. I lined each tier with some icing and filled it with filling. I stacked the layered filled naked cake layers then wrapped plastic wrap around the entire naked cake and kept it in the cooler until it was time to deliver.
When we arrived at the reception venue and placed the naked cake on the cake table we removed the plastic and placed powder sugar all over the naked cake. Flowers were placed on the naked cake and there you go. Beautiful. Best wishes to Beck and Kasie Thomas, they were married October 25, 2014 and had their reception at the Howard House in Dunn, NC. Some of the vendors that were part of their wedding were, Ambrosia Cake Creations, Jefferies Florist, Aramark – Campbell University as Caterer, Life By Roxy photographer / videographer, Band of Oz, Saam’s Party Tents, Brackman System Integration, Breezeway Cafe.

Silhouette Wedding Cake
This Silhouette wedding cake was made for Daniel and Emily Burgos who were married October 18, 2014 and had their wedding reception at the Belt Line Station, The Cotton Room in Durham, NC. They wanted their wedding cake to be unique with silhouette images of their story placed on the wedding cake. I created some images and cut black gum paste using my electric cutter. They wanted to include their 4 year old daughter. So, I made a couple of images of a silhouette little girl as well. I also made a little cake special for her. A plum color was an accent color so I made little plum color hearts that were included in the images. Some vendors that were there were All Around Raleigh DJ, Eric Hodgden and, videographer Silver Feather Studios.

Breast Cancer Awareness
and those still fighting the battle.
Written by Jan Stewart.
We all have a friend or family member that cancer has affected in one way or another. I feel that having the annual October the month of breast cancer awareness campaign is a good way to encourage us to take steps to plan and detect cancer in the early stages and remind others to do the same as many of us forget to take these steps. 1 out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
This breast cancer awareness three tier cake has textured fondant icing brushed with a light antique pink color on the top and bottom tier giving it an elegant vintage look. The middle tier is just covered with smooth white chocolate fondant in ivory color. The ivory flowers are roses made of gum paste. The topper is an edible butterfly that represents hope for those who are going through breast cancer.
Dedicated to breast cancer survivors that are close to me:
Joyce Holland, Jan Stewart and, Maria Plazas.

The top tier had hand made small gum paste flowers placed all over to giving it a unique texture, the middle tier was just a smooth iced layer leaving the bottom tier with delicate fondant ruffles. Jessica King and Lynn from Happily Ever After Wedding Coordination and Decor Rental decorated The Shady Wagon Farm so beautiful, very rustic and very creative. A lot of couples would like to have their pets be a part of their wedding. To make this dream come true you can have a figure made of your favorite animal or pet and placed somewhere on your wedding cake. This black tuxedo cat named Ray was part of Maria and Jeff’s wedding cake that took place at a church in Garner, NC near Raleigh, NC.. We made the playful cat out of modeling chocolate then staged him coming out of the bottom tier of the wedding cake playing with the string of pearls which is the bottom border of the wedding cake.
